There are openings for the course "Managing Online Documentation Projects" to
be held in Washington D.C. April 11 and 12.

This two-day course is designed for technical writers, Help developers, and
managers who are facing their first online project and are unsure how to write
a project plan, schedule the project, determine resource needs, handle
technical reviews, write a test plan, or determine an appropriate level of
quality.

The course is also effective for writers and developers who have been part of
a team on previous projects, but are now asked to be the lead or manager.
Techniques are discussed for the one-person online documentation team and the
multi-writer team.

You will learn to:
do effective audience analysis to determine your audience profile
specify content based on user tasks
estimate project duration and receive an Excel spreadsheet that automates the
duration estimates for you.
create a risks and contingency plan
manage changes to the software or process you are documenting
set quality standards
write a test plan

Course instructor is Mary Deaton, co-author of "Designing Windows '95 Help: A
Guide to Creating Online Documents." Participants can purchase the book for
15% off the cover price of $49.99.

The course is $695. For registration or additional information, contact
Solutions at 1 800 448-4230
