Message Confirmation??

I like the idea Eric. This keeps the shitheads off the list. It *could
possibly* minimize the volume of moronic messages too! *Some* of our more
enlightned communicators continue to post such crap, and may think twice if
they have to hurdle a confirmation gauntlet. Doubtful, but a dream huh?

Please let us all know what happens ... for now you can take Guy's "vote"
as one for the supportive side of message confirmation. Amazement shall
follow if anyone (like me, who rarely posts to the list) would fight you on
this decision.

Please consider this action seriously.

Yours truly,
Guy McDonald

I certainly share your concern--this is a serious problem.

Yes, there is something that can be done about it. It's
called message confirmation. It works just about like
the confirmation process in subscribing:
1. You post.
2. Listserv sends it back to you and asks you to
confirm it.
3. You confirm it. If you don't, it dies right there.
4. Listserv sends it out to everyone.
Do we want to do this? I don't know. I don't know of other
lists that require it. I know it would be a hassle
for all of us--I can't estimate just how big.

Comments, either on or off-line, as appropriate, would
be welcome. I don't want to jump into doing this, but it's
a possibility.
