Diane Walsh asked about online help for the Mac. I'm replying to the
list as I've deleted her original message.

We've used QuickHelp successfully for several years to port numerous
Windows 3.1 help files to the Mac. We copy our RTF files and bitmaps
from the PC to a Macintosh. On the Mac, we use QuickHelp to compile the
files into online help for the Macintosh. This is generally a simple and
quick process. The resulting help has the same "look and feel" and
functionality as the Windows/PC help. The QuickHelp documentation is
brief and adequate.

The QuickHelp vendor is:
Altura Software,
510 Lighthouse Ave, Suite #5
Pacific Grove, CA 93950
Phone: (408) 655-8005
Fax: (408)655-9663
Site licenses available.

I understand that most developers run QuickHelp as a separate application
("non-linkable version"). When the end user asks for help, your
application is pushed to the background and QuickHelp is started. This
requires your application developer to make a call to a context string
supplied by you. There is also a linkable version of QuickHelp that is
"inside" your application. This requires more work from your application
developers.

Unless you are developing for the Mac *only*, I wouldn't bother with
AppleGuide.
