Instructor: B. Tommie Usdin
Mulberry Technologies, Inc.

This 4 hour introductory seminar will present a basic but thorough overview of
SGML. If you are just getting started with SGML, or have been told to
cost-justify a decision to use SGML, or to figure out how to start to manage
your company's documents, this course is for you. If you have trouble spelling
SGML and/or confuse "DDT" and "DTD," this is a great place to start. Even
someone who has begun to work with SGML will likely find useful nuggets of SGML
knowledge they might have missed while working on project-specific
implementations.

B. Tommie Usdin, president of Mulberry Technologies, Inc. and co-chair of the
SGML'96 conference , will present an "Introduction to SGML for Beginners"
prior to the May meeting of the Forum. The four-hour course will focus on
basic SGML concepts and vocabulary and explore the benefits and potential
problems of adopting SGML-based systems for
document production.

The fee will be $20 for Forum members and $50 for non-members. Since seating
is limited to the first 30 paid reservations, please reserve early. All
reservations must be pre-paid. The Forum cannot accept payments or payment
promises at the door. Should you need an invoice to process a company purchase
order, please send an e-mail message with appropriate
details to: rbarth -at- dclab -dot- com or fax the PO to Richard at 718-357-8776.

Please send paid reservations only for this seminar to:

Richard Barth
Data Conversion Laboratory
184-13 Horace Harding Expressway
Fresh Meadows, NY 11365

For all other inquiries: rbarth -at- dclab -dot- com

The SGML Forum of New York May meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. following the
tutorial, in the same location. Please come for the afternoon seminar and stay
for the meeting. Sanford Bingham of Magnetic Press will discuss SGML and
Adobe's PDF format. Does SGML have any advantages when the target output is
Acrobat? Mr. Bingham may have some surprises for you. For the vendor portion
of the meeting, Adobe will show their new FrameMaker +SGML release.
