Mary: great question. The responses show a tremendous diversity of expertise.

I am an independent consultant. My first training was in nuclear engineering
(bachelors and masters), but I found myself doing mostly software
development/maintenance/testing about three years out of college. To improve
my technical communication skills I am working on a masters in TC at Boise
State.
As a former manager for two minority-owned government contractors (SBA 8a
designation), I've written about fifty proposals for service contracts--I
hope to do more. Currently I am working on documenting Novell network
management practices. Next month I will be presenting a training seminar on
project management.
