The choice of tracking setting from "very tight" to "very loose" is manual.
The whole tracking function is concerned with how letter spacing should
change with font size. Kerning is also manual.

My impression is that PM5 does its justification in the traditional Linotype
way. After the line ending has been determined imaginary space-wedges are
tightened until the line is justified.
