Hi team
Our current company policy is that we must use Futura and Plantin fonts for
all documentation. The fonts were recommended by a design company without
considering the obvious online (WinHelp and Web) usage. These fonts do NOT
sit well in a WinHelp file and I normally use Arial or Helvetica as a
standard font for all my heading and body text.
We have to provide a case for why the *official* corporate fonts for online
documentation must be changed to Arial or Helvetica. It must be based upon
logical issues such as readability, usability, functionality, etc.
Is there any reference material about on the subject of fonts for online
documentation as compared to paper documentation? Have there been studies
done on the fonts used? Is there a standard industry font for WinHelp (apart
from what Microsoft state)?
What industry standards / Government Standards are there on this subject?
