I'm real excited because our local state university offers a
technical communication program thru their engineering dept, and I'm
taking a course through it which is really about grammar but don't tell,
the course
title makes it sound a little more inviting. Personally, I can't imagine a
better evening than diagramming sentences...
The point here is to try (a) night programs associated w/
colleges; (b) english depts (c) business depts (d) engineering/scientific
depts. And tell them what you want...as specifically as possible. Don't
settle for a "writing" course: ask about tenses, voices, parts of speech,
etc.
And good for you. I found I was defensive on our first class, when
the instructor did a pre-test. Me? Ms. Tech Writing '96? Tested? Proof I
need it!
