In my 11 year-old's 6th grade, they use a similar approach.
Additionally, for every piece you develop, you need to go through three
sessions of QPS with different people. You revise after each session
consisting of someone reading your work and asking questions, giving
praise, and making suggestions. Sounds a lot like tech review to me.
Only more organized. BWAAAHAHAHA.
