Elna Tymes wondered about the source of mysterious grey
bars in a Word template. I haven't worked much with Word,
but I suspect you're dealing with a "watermark" feature
that's been turned on in the template. (Watermarks appear
"beneath" the text and are treated as if they were part of
the paper, not part of the document itself.) A watermark
generally would be something you couldn't select with the
mouse, and wouldn't appear as part of heading or body text
styles. Most likely it'll appear as a toggled setting in
the "print options" dialog or under the page layout menu;
the Word mavens on the list should be able to point you
closer to the target.
