I hesitated to respond to this initially, because frankly, I suspect
that any tool that verifies that a link actually goes to the "correct"
file rather than simply the "named" file will be commercial (read
pricy) software.

Personally, I'd love to see the logic of a program that can determine that
the HREF I typed in isn't in fact the HREF I wanted to type in, even though
it's pointing to an existing file. Sounds a lot like a program that could be
applied in several other useful areas, such as telling me that the word I
typed, even though it was a legitimate word and properly spelled, isn't in
fact the word I really *wanted* to type. I could *definitely* use that kind
of program. ;{>}
