Content---
Depends on what specific skills you are trying to emphasize. I'm betting
you'll get lots of advice on this, but take it all with a grain of salt or
two. If you can, talk to the person who will be reviewing the portfolio
and ask what he/she/it will be looking for.

Format---
I use a 10" x 13" loose-leaf binder. There are several styles on the
market. Check out both office supply stores and art shops.

For some good ideas on portfolio development, check out these two books:

The Perfect Portfolio for Artists and Writers

Career Press, 1991

How to Prepare Your Portfolio: A Guide for Students and Professionals
(aimed mostly at art/design, but has some useful ideas)
Ed Marquand
Art Direction Book Company, 1981, 1985
(there may be a new edition out by now)
