A Resume Question

Our company is involved in international work, but so far as I can
recall there's no mention of language proficiency on any of our internal
info.

OTOH....here's a reason to list languages.

Our company is currently working on a large project with Japan. This
weekend, I was threading through a large stack of resumes, and hit one
that made me stop for a moment. The candidate had a Japanese surname,
and a Western first name. There wasn't anything outstanding about the
resume, nor was there anything terribly bad about it...just one more
standard resume in the middle of the pack. I checked carefully, and
found no reference to Japanese language ability anywhere on the resume.
As that's a valuable skill, my conclusion was "Either he doesn't speak
Japanese, or he's not alert enough to list all his talents on his
resume."

Bam! Discard pile. Next resume?
