We use HyperHelp here at Expersoft (Acrobat didn't support enough
different UNIX platforms for our needs). It's true! It's true!
You can port any winhelp application to hyperhelp and as long as
the graphics are all in windows bitmap format, the conversion is
seamless. The help files on UNIX look and function just like the
help files on Windows.
HyperHelp is somewhat pricey, tho. Typically, it'll take about
$6k to get started and another $3k for additional UNIX platforms--
to purchase a freely distributable reader. (And for your money,
you also get a keychain and a couple of sour lemon candies, all
of which were "stolen" before I had a chance to taste them.)
Bristol also supplies a version of ForeHelp that runs on UNIX
platforms.
There is no "native" help for UNIX gui software. The UNIX way to
go is to drop into text mode and access man pages <bleaaccck!>
