I know that many prople believe this to be an Urban legend, but while it is an
alarmist's view of what is going on and very dramaticized, there is a slight
amount of truth to this.  On the other hand, be aware that the Internet Service
Providers (ISPs such as AOL, Netcom, UUnet, Pipeline, etc.) aren't standing
still on this and may have just as much pull in this area as the Incumbent
Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs, previously know as Region Bell Operating
Companies)  and CLECs (Certified Local Exchange Carriers).

Unfortunately, working for a company (Bell Communications Research) with both
ISPs and CLECs/ILECs as customers, I really can't discuss my opinion in this
public forum on the  details.  I'll just leave it that both sides are simply
jockeying to be in the most favorable position.

I don't think this is fake as I saw a short notice of it in the papers. the
hearings start tomorrow so today or at least by tomorrow will be the best time
to protest.
