When I interview prospective Interns, I ask a variation of that question, which
I think is easier for candidates to answer. The question is: "How do you
define success?" I also ask: "How would you define your ideal working
environment?"

The answers to those two questions tell me a LOT about the candidate.
Specifically, the answer to the first question tells me whether or not the
candidate knows what s/he wants out of life; after all, if you don't know what
you want, how can you possibly attain it? The candidate's answer also tells me
whether or not the Internship with me will help the candidate achieve those
goals. The answer to the second question helps me determine whether or not the
candidate would be happy working in my office.
