To: Tech writers working in Online and Intranet
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have as to the
content of a course I am designing and will be teaching. In the first
course I will be teaching IS personnel how to write for online and
intranet mediums. I am looking for ideas on what
content/skills/expereinces to cram into a one day, 7 hour workshop.
Besides books by William Horton and STC's Technical Communication
Journal, what other books or journal articles about this subject do you
recommend? Besides Elements of Style, Elements of Grammar, APA,
Turabian, Chicago--do you have any other suggestions. I am
designing/writing an IS Style Manual for this Fortune 500 company.
P.S.: participants will be using MS Word 6/7. The second day-long
course I will be teaching a more select group how to use
WinHelp/RoboHELP 4. Each time I teach one of these two classes, there
will be 12 participants each a a computer. I will be using PowerPoint
slide shows, CBT demonstrations using WinHelp/RoboHELP 4, and MS Word
documents for the participants to work within.
Your responses will be greatly appreciated. I will compile an abstact
to distribute on the Techwr-l. Thanks. Bill
