The problem is that the winhelp engine doesn't support Symbol font,
and that's what you're getting when you Insert>Symbol.

Additionally, if you're using MS Sans, there is no native em dash.
The em dash in normal fonts is in the 0151 position, and that's a
vertical bar in MS Sans.

This is why I use Ariel rather than MS Sans for online help -- it
*does* have a native em dash, bullet, etc. If you change your normal
font to Ariel and use Alt+0151 on the number pad to insert the em,
you shouldn't encounter this problem.
