You can also use <Ctrl+Alt+minus sign on the number pad>. I find that
easier than trying to remember the number code. Likewise, for an en
dash, you can use <Ctrl+minus sign on the number pad>. If you are using
Word 7, it has an AutoCorrect entry that replaces two dashes with an en
dash. From my experience, any of these methods compile correctly.
