Is there currently any publication that tracks agency performance? In regards to how they treat contractors?

If you've ever suspected contracting agencies of being bandits --
cheating contractors and clients alike out of their money -- read David
Orr's earlier post to this thread. I appreciate his frank description of
his tech comm agency's costs and pricing practices.

As a staff writer and manager with a similar firm, I sometimes hear the
complaint that David addressed. Yet most experienced contractors I've
known appreciate the many advantages that agencies offer, not the least
of which is fresh work. While I admire freelancers who steadily acquire
work on their own, I know many writers and other technical professionals
who rely on the marketing, promotion, and sales work that agencies
perform.

Of course some agencies are better to work with than others, and a few
may deserve the charge of banditry. But in general, agencies and others
who employ contractors play a helpful role in today's tech comm
industry.
