WORD: GRAPHIC LINKS

I am working on a project for a customer that includes linked graphics. I am using Microsoft Word 7.0. The graphics files are located in the same directory as the document.

I could not find any information in the Word documentation or on-line help files regarding how to maintain links when moving files to different directories, media, or computers. Even Microsoft technical support didn't know.

Since I will deliver the source to my customer, I would like to make sure that the customer will not have any problems opening and printing the document with the linked graphics. Consequently, I am asking under what circumstances are links broken? If the graphics files are moved with the document file and positioned with the same relative path, will the links remain OK? If not, what can I do?

(When using Framemaker, moving publications to another computer has no affect on links as long as you maintain the same relative path with the doc file. But I don't know if this also applies to Microsoft Word files.)

Your help is appreciated,

Jon Leer
