Word 6.0 Quirk

We are producing a few hundred large documents, using Word 6.0, that will
include ?conditional text? or merge fields. That is, various parts of a
document can be coded with Word?s Mail Merge feature (?If then..else?) to
appear in a particular version of the document.

The problem is that whenever a double-quote mark appears in one of these
merge fields, Word interprets the quote mark as the end of the merge field,
and everything in the field after the quote mark does not print.

There must be some sort of switch that we can put in front of the quote
mark to let Word know that this is a literal quote mark and not a code.
