Simple. HTML is easier to read on screen: you can customise it to your
screen width and font size. And its smaller file size helps. And I've had
problems printing out pdfs in the past.
Having said that, Acrobat 3 seems to be much better in the file size
department, and the ability to byte-serve the docs (on some web servers)
means you need only download the pages you want.
There's also a great number of pdfs out there that don't have bookmarks
(whatever that left-hand frame of contents is called) which makes finding
your way round a bit of a pain.
