Mike, I would:

1) Check the company's web site to see if they have any current press
releases available from their site. Study them and then incorporate
the
portion(s) of the "human interest" approach you agree with into your
press
release, and be prepared to discuss those that you didn't like.

2) Check press releases from other web sites for ideas.

In addition to the above, I'd also suggest trying something really
old-fashioned. Most public libraries have a section on local
businesses, where they keep news clippings about companies in the
area. Often this information goes back many years, which isn't usually
the case with web sites. It may sound like a total anachronism, but
I've found lots of extremely useful information this way.

Of course, this assumes that the company is in your area.
