I just got back from being no-mail, so I apologize if someone else has
already said this...
From my limited knowledge of contract vs "employed" worker, one of the
IRS's telltale signs of being an employee (as opposed to contractor) is
using the employer's space, equipment, etc.. So if they may be trying to
get around that by making her "rent" the space and equipment from them,
thereby making her an independent contractor. If this is what they're
really up to, they sound like a bunch of sneaks and I wouldn't trust
them any farther than I can throw them. Of course, this assumes its a
U.S. organization. I mean, they could be a bunch of sneaks even if
they're not in the U.S., but you know what I mean. ;-)
