Okay, I'll be off the list for at least a month, so I have to get
my comments in while I can.

Yes, if we take what the poster wrote at face value, that's what
it sounds like. However, I have had a private exchange with the
poster suggesting that perhaps he/she might have been too quick
to judge.

What I asked was whether this person bothered to take the time
to address the president in charge *personally* with their
concerns. If listserv behavior is any example, then it seems that
it is very easy to miscommunicate with someone. I wouldn't be
at all surprised for said chapter president to be astonished
that this accusation had been laid at their feet. Then again,
perhaps they don't give a hoot about students...hard to say.
Obviously since the accusation was anonymous, it'd be fairly
hard for anyone in that chapter to comment.

It could be that said chapter president was insensitive with regards
to his/her student members. But it could just as easily be that
our student member had very little insight into what other things
might be on the chapter president's plate. If it had been me, I
certainly would have wished to have had a chance to *directly* respond
to the concerns, instead of been labeled on a public forum (albeit
anonymously). But then, as an alt.wedding regular, I never
understood why brides-to-be would vent, with astonishing acrimony,
about current or future family members who were causing pre-wedding
strife.

And as I suggested to the student member, there won't always be
an Eric who lets one vent their frustrations anonymously.

Just my two cents.
