This is a tough decision. I guess much depends on your personal
situation. Is your income the primary family income? If you are
married, does your spouse have adequate health benefits that will cover
you both? Do you have dependents living at home who rely on your income
and benefits? Do you sacrifice any pension, retirement, and/or employer
vesting by switching jobs? Is the start-up company heavily dependent on
only one or two primary clients (which can lead to a sudden pulling out
of the rug)? What is the history of each company when it comes to
downsizing? Does either company seem to find a way to lay-off the over
50 crowd first?
