Eric--

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I've been visiting UIE's site and just
yesterday convinced the powers that be to buy Jared Spool's new book (at a
special rate that expires on *7/15*, by the way). Now I'm lobbying to get sent
to UIE's course in Usability for Documentation Specialists.

A couple of other TECHWR-LERs sent suggestions (e.g., Melanie Nelson sited/cited
"www.monsterweb.com" and its mailing list on webdesign). I will post a summary
to the list in a week or so.

Thank you also for TECHWR-L! It's a wonderful resource.

Best regards

Gang,

If you're doing any kind of Web/Internet/intranet design,
I'd strongly recommend taking a long look at the
Web Site Usability Report from UIE (Jared Spool of UIE
is a TECHWR-L regular). It's a good quick read, except
for the double-takes at some of the completely counterintuitive
findings. Even with the traditional Your Mileage
May Vary factor of most relatively narrow empirical
studies, this one indicates that a lot of us are doing
a lot wrong.

No connection with UIE--just find the results more
than a little useful.

Info about them follows.

Anyone else have any usability data about Web sites
you'd care to share?

Eric
