TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
We maintain an equipment exchange web-site that's growing rapidly, http://www.equex.com , and are looking for better ways of presenting tables
of technical specifications. Is there a standard, or good 'Elements of
Writing Style' guide for this kind of content?
Some of the particular questions we have pertain to standard formats for
abbreviations of proper names and company names, quality abbreviations (e.g.
very good, poor, etc.) and abbreviations for physical dimensions (e.g. foot,
pound, kilo, nanometer, etc.).
All leads will be appreciated, and thanks in advance for your help.
