Having lived and written in Atlanta for 16 years, I would, however,
disagree
about Coke running the place. There are a lot of other large companies
who hire writers (including ones in which I worked and hired writers),
and
while I occasionally had to have a heart-to-heart with a newbie writer
about
salary expectations, the STC chapter there was pretty good about helping
folks know what was reasonable. Enough informal mentoring occurs that
I believe writers have a good idea on hourly and salaried market rates.
