I read a lot of messages giving advice on the production of manuals in sizes
other than 8.5 x 11. But I don't think I saw anyone ask the question *why?*
I seem to remember reading somewhere (STC publication, maybe, but not for
sure) that a company (or someone) had surveyed manual users and had found a
resounding majority absolutely hated the fat, pint-sized books so popular
with software producers. They commented that the junior-size pages held so
little information that the books became bloated, taking up far more shelf
space than they warranted.
Has anyone gathered any user feedback on the subject? Did I read the
obscure article backward? Have times changed and left me behind--again?
