Subject:Back of the manual From:geoff-h -at- MTL -dot- FERIC -dot- CA Date:Thu, 7 Aug 1997 13:48:13 -0500
Andrea Kelso wondered what should go at the very back of
the manual. Andrea, I'd put the index there and move the
license agreement to the front. The logic is clear: If you
bury the license agreement, it's easy for users
(particularly pirates) to claim they've never seen it
before, whereas that claim is hard to support if it's the
first thing they see when they open the book. Similarly,
indexes have always gone at the back of English books,
usually as the last thing you see, and that's the layout
readers expect.
