HTML vs PDF

I would really appreciate some help from those of you out there in
techwr-l land. There is some question here regarding HTML vs PDF docs.
Because Microsoft uses HTML as its method of online doc distribution (MS
VC++ 5.0 has all HTML-based documentation), many here believe that HTML
will become the defacto standard, overtaking PDF. Any opinions?

Thanks in advance
