Apple opportunities: IE and Network Computer (Ellison) and OS8+. Remember,
Jobs sold Next (OS) to Apple. Plus there's the Motorola/PowerPC chip. So I
don't expect Apple to defect from the hardware side and become a pure software
company, like Next did. I do expect Apple to adopt Intel CPUs.
What prevents MS from outright acquiring Apple is anti-trust concerns. You'll
see, MS won't bury Apple either.
Apple's gonna go vertical; that is, focusing on education, DTP, artist markets
and anywhere else it has fanatical followers.
It's gonna be more interesting now.
Netscape's gonna lose this war. Nets' strategic blunder is simply this: Being
on the dance floor when the elephants stepped on. Nets is gonna have to niche
into intranets. Once again, MS will win the mass market.
Stox blew off big steam today. Dow off 2%, NASDAQ off almost as much. I'm
relieved. Recently, it's been too heady for words.
This is not copyrighted. So, for a change, send this out to your usergroup
buds. I ain't no tech writer, but when it comes to technology and
strategizing, I'm a certified wiz.
