I think tech writers need to be balanced, and that's the core issue here. I
have a BS in engineering, but I hated working as an engineer. I turned to
writing as a hobby, and have had short stories, poems, and feature articles
published, so in that way I'm a "creative writer." But I found I still kept
my "technical" mentality, that I was still interested in things technical,
and I loved learning new stuff. What better combination of skills and
interests than technical writing, a field that requires the ability to write
in a way that people can understand, and the ability to understand technical
things?
This is the best of all worlds for me.
