The Windows Interface Guidelines for Software Design, published by Microsoft
Press (ISBN 1-55615-679-0) is the bible for designing Windows 95-based
applications. It contains the correct verbs to use in describing actions, the
name for elements on dialog boxes, on the interface, and so on. I'd start by
owning and reviewing it.
