Select the ABC Menu function you want.

The ABC menu function I want is a cheese sandwich

It was:
Select the ABC Menu function you desire.

The ABC menu function I desire is a cream cake with chocolate sauce

The ABC menu function I will have to choose is one that most nearly
suits the task in hand. Neither probably fit my wants or desires.

In other words, I'd suggest that a better phrase would be something
like

Select the appropriate ABC menu function
or
Select the relevant ABC menu function

I really don't think the users wants or desires are really the guide
to which mnu they select, unless this software is something very
special indeed!

.. If it is, can I be a beta tester?

;-)
