I was talking to a presenter at OOPSLA who was trying to track down a
paper. It's the famous paper that tried presenting Unix man pages in
various online formats, trying to determine which format was best, and
whose conclusion was that *quality of writing* mattered more than any other
factor in the effectiveness of online help.

I know I've read the paper, and I thought I could track down a citation in
William Horton's *Designing and Writing Online Documentation*. I'm sure
the citation is there, but I can't find it. If anybody recognizes the
paper from my description above, could you mail me the author, title, and
journal information? I'll save a copy for myself and forward it to the
student, who will be very grateful; his advisor also remembers the paper,
but can't remember where he saw it.

Thank you.
