In a negotiation, knowledge is power. If the employer knows all the
salaries and you don't, the employer has more power than you do.

One response to this is "get used to it." That is, if you don't like being
in unequal relationships, don't become an employee.

Equally valid, however, is the response that you're entitled to take steps
to reduce the inequality. Finding out your co-workers' salaries is one of
those steps. ...RM
