Foreign Language Enrichment

I've been in tech writing more than 15 years, the last 10 in software
documentation. Since way back I?ve nurtured a dream of going to an
immersion-style language school (Spanish) in South or Central America
and circumstances are presenting which actually make such a leap
possible. I?ll get out from under the mortgage (want to move to Dallas
anyway), pay bills, sell belongings, and live on royalties in Mexico or
Guatemala where the dollar can go far.

It is probably sensible to view this pursuit as a hobby rather than
career enhancement, yet won't adding languages to my repertoire enrich
my tech communication skills? Do you think I will have a hard time
re-entering the job market after, say, 6 months away on this jaunt?
Sincerely appreciate your feedback, my friends. E-mail me direct if you
wish.

There are things that happen and leave no discernible trace, are not
spoken or written of, though it would be very wrong to say that
subsequent events go on indifferently, all the same, as though such
things had never been. -ASByatt
