I guess I should have clarified. I asked because there seems to be a
split in my company as to how much the tech writers can/should be doing.
I personally want to be able to write for our Web site, contribute to
the marketing materials, help develop a Corporate style guide, etc -- in
addition to writing manuals. But I feel like I'm being pigeonholed as
someone that can only write technical documentation (which is not
true!!!). I want to see how other small companies handle it and how tech
writers feel about it.

(By the way, we currently have no Marketing writers or editors. All that
writing is handled by non-writers. They want me to be involved, but I'm
getting a little resistance from the Engineering department -- hence
feeling like I must choose between one or the other.)
