I agree with asking non-job related questions, but these particular
questions don't seem to direct the interview in any direction. Last
interesting article or TV commercial... hmmm... well, I enjoy Dave
Barry's articles personally and don't see anything detail-oriented in
commercials. Some of the eye-catchers are amusing but usually there's
nothing of substance.

Why not try questions that probe a person's interests and personality,
likes and dislikes, work habits and mindset? Isn't that more
important in finding the BEST FIT for the position?
