I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I, too, now work from home. It actually
wasn't by choice, I just fell into it. My husband and I had decided to
relocate from CT to FL. I sent a resignation letter to my Manager, and it
was she who offered me the opportunity to take my job with me and work from
home. A full-time permanent position at home, what more could I have asked
for... (also, I kept my CT salary!) ... I get company benefits, an off-site
manager, expense reports, etc. etc. etc.

I've been doing so now for a little over a month, and it's been great. I
have a 2-yr-old who goes to daycare 1/2 day. So I get four solid hours of
work each morning, two in the afternoon during her nap. And then two again
later in the evening.

The best part of the whole thing was loosing the hectic morning ritual of
getting myself ready for work and a two-year old ready for daycare, dropping
her off, and getting her to let go of me so I could make it to work on time!
Now, if she won't let go, I just stay a little longer.

The hardest part was discipline. But I feel I've accomplished that by
setting a schedule and sticking to it. I seem to work the same hours
everyday, but if something is going on, working offsite gives me the
flexibility to change it.

If, only I had a dog to keep my feet warm ... hmmm!
