If you're a fan of rudeness or find it a character feature
to be cultivated, enjoy, but I'm not going to tolerate it
here.

We're not talking about perceived slights--we're talking
about messages like the "go to hell" messages I get
weekly, and I don't see the two issues as being
comparable.

To reiterate:
* I said in my "listowner as jerk" message not to discuss it
on the list. That's pretty unambiguous.
* If you want to discuss the various benefits of rudeness
or the liabilities of having a thin skin, find yourself a
new list. The thick skin required to do a good job as
a tech writer and the thick skin required to subject
yourself to TECHWR-L-related abuse aren't comparable,
and the second isn't necessary. I'm tired of valuable
contributors leaving the list because of abuse, and
will do everything in my power to stop it.
* Any followups to the "Niceness as a career path" message
will result in immediate suspension of posting privileges.

Eric
