Rose,

In almost all cases, the work belongs to the company.

So, the company and you would have to define what you can take into your
portfolio. Unless you have to deal with total jerks, there is always
something you can include. But, NEVER EVER do it before you got the formal
permission. Business partners of mine got into deep trouble when they did
use something from a project without asking. If they had asked, they would
have gotten permission without any further questions. That happened a few
years ago. But they still are fighting to get decent assignments from that
client.
