She should check to see if she has automatic-backups (or whatever Word
calls them) enabled. This feature typically saves a backup of the
existing document to the hard drive whenever it overwrites a document.
If she looks within Word's main working directory tree (C:\WINWORD for
example), there should be one called BACKUP. If she's lucky, there's a
copy of the previous version in there (although it may be under some
odd cryptic name).
