Dear technical experts!

Our programmers want to edit their WORD
files and desire a
single-source-output-to-anywhere
solution for their environment. (HTML,
Print,
CD-ROM, WinHelp, JavaHelp, selected Text
for PowerPoint presentations)

As far as I can judge, we need to move
towards a SGML-based solution. Today, we

have no budget for a powerful authoring
or publishing environment. We have WORD,

Doc-to-HELP, which are too difficult for
the programmers.

Can you help with your advice?

How can we move to SGML step-by-step,
but yet work with the tools today.

Additional questions:

Which (preferrably low-cost) tools or
systems can be used?

Is it a good idea to start to:
Customize the WORD and
D2H-interface?
Pour the data into an ACCESS
Database (Excuse me, but how do we do
this?)
Pour the ACCESS data into
D2H-templates (is this possible?)
Look for formatting templates for
other output media.

What problems are to be considered?
(graphics, hyperlinks, media files)

Will D2H support standard JAVAHelp and
XML?

Are you using SGML-tools with WORD and
what are your experiences?

Thank you for your advice
