Documentation & Training

The Documentation & Training (D&T) Group is responsible for internal
documentation and training for the Technology Department. Almost all of the
documentation and training is Web-based or online; some training is
instructor-led. Group members work with Technology as well as other CNET
departments to document processes and systems and train employees.

The D&T Group is responsible for the management, design, organization,
production, and maintenance of technical documentation for the Technology
Department. This documentation is either used by Technology members or
describes Technology products and processes to other CNET audiences. D&T also
manages and maintains TechWeb, the Technology Office intranet, and writes most
of TechWeb's material. In addition, D&T is responsible for training Technology
members and other CNET employees in the use of tools developed by Technology.
D&T performs needs analyses to determine the appropriate type of training:
instructor-led, CBT, online tutorials, or online help.

Group responsibilities include:

· determining documentation and training requirements;
· interacting with Technology members and CNET-wide points of contact ;
· writing for a wide variety of products;
· writing for a wide variety of delivery methodologies ;
· page layout and organization;
· maintenance of documentation;
· development of training materials; and
· delivery of instructor-led training.

Position:

Documentor
Job description: Documentors report to the Director of Documentation and
Training. A Documentor is responsible for the design and implementation of
medium-sized documentation projects (e.g., all documentation for a particular
large application) or for one particular area of expertise (e.g., editing)
. He
or she must possess significant documentation expertise and will
participate in
the determination of group policies and procedures.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

four or more years experience in their particular area of documentation
expertise (e.g., technical documentation, online help, multimedia, editing);
and
hands-on experience with Web authoring.

The following are highly desirable:

experience developing and delivering training; and
experience writing and implementing online help

All candidates must provide relevant samples.
