So, flame me for e-mailing the list instead of Diane. Personally, I find
this thread interesting, and I was feeling left out.

My pedigree for your general perusal:

AS Travel/Tourism Management (!)

Never actually used that one. Comes in handy when planning cheap
vacations though. It was also a very intense 2-year business degree.

BS Business Economics, concentration in Manufacturing Management.

I began as a Time-Study Technician, progressed very quickly to
Industrial Engineer (and took the courses and certifications to back
that title), and within 4 years slammed into the glass ceiling at age
29, as senior engineer. Bitched and got downsized in 1992. Decided I'd
rather write anyway, I just hadn't had the guts before.

BS in Journalism

A few years freelancing--my motto "will work for clips." Damn near
anyway, but I had a hell of a portfolio only a year out of school. HEAR
THAT NEWBIES??! Write for free if you have to, those samples and
references will get your foot in the door.

MBA in process.

Actually, it's on hold. I have only 30 credit to go, but a change of
majors is in order. Right now I'm kind of busy (7 months pregnant), so
my guess is it'll be awhile...

Summary: employers DROOL over the combination of engineering and
journalism. My degree may not be in TW or Tech Comm, but it sure hasn't
mattered.
