Technical writers:

I am a professional indexer and have been asked to give a short presentation to technical writing students about indexing. I include two things in all my presentations to non-indexers who deal with indexing. The fundamentals of do-it-yourself indexing and how to hire a professional indexer. From the stand point of today's professional technical writers, what is the most important information about indexing I can convey to these students? Contact me directly and I will post the results to the list. Thanks!
